Still making progress✨

Happy Tuesday friends🤍 let’s take a moment to talk about pictures...

Your clothes can change your looks

Your poses, your angles, your food you ate at lunch, can ALL change how you look in ONE photo.

And then you sit…and you stare…and you pick apart all the things that are “wrong” with this photo of you. And THEN, you start to think how you’ve made no progress, and you’re not where you want to be, and you don’t look like the fitness influencer you saw online.

It’s. All. A. Lie. 🥰and I mean that in the best way! It’s all a lie because regardless of a picture, your health journey MATTERS! You show up for YOU, not for the picture you post. Your progress isn’t defined by a picture! It’s defined by how you feel, and what you learn, and how you improve day after day striving to meet the goals you set for yourself. It’s SO easy to fall trap to wanting to look a certain way, in a quick period of time. So here’s your PSA that you will not look the same every day, it does not defeat your progress, you don’t need to lose a certain amount of weight by a specific time — but rather embrace your WHOLE wellness journey, how you feel on the good days and the bad, and continue to show up for you, not the picture. 💌

... Read moreOkay, so we've all been there, right? Scrolling through Instagram, seeing those incredible 'BBG before and after' photos, and feeling a mix of awe and maybe a little 'why don't *I* look like that?' I get the motivation behind wanting to see dramatic transformations. When you're putting in work with a program like BBG, you want proof it's paying off! But what if focusing solely on those pictures actually holds you back from appreciating your real progress? It’s easy to compare your journey to someone else's highlight reel. As the main article mentions, poses can change your looks, angles can change your looks, and even your clothing can change your looks dramatically in a photo. A slight twist of the torso or different arm position can alter your silhouette. Lighting in a gym locker room versus natural sunlight? Huge difference! These visual tricks, often unintentional, highlight why relying solely on photos for progress tracking can be misleading and disheartening. Remember, 'none of that undoes your progress' and 'don't let photos trick you into forgetting how far you've come.' So, how do we track progress in a way that truly celebrates our efforts and keeps us motivated, especially with programs like BBG? It's all about looking beyond the superficial. Beyond the Photo: Real Progress Metrics Non-Scale Victories (NSVs): My favorite! Can you hold a plank longer, or not get as out of breath climbing stairs? More reps of those BBG squats, or finally a full push-up? These are HUGE wins. Your strength, endurance, and overall fitness are improving – that's what truly matters for long-term health. Energy & Mood: Waking up with more energy? Feeling less sluggish? Mood more stable? Fitness impacts our entire well-being. Pay attention to how you feel mentally and physically. This internal shift is often a better indicator of progress than any external change. How Your Clothes Fit: A classic! Instead of obsessing over the scale, try on old jeans. Do they feel looser or more comfortable? It’s often a sign of body recomposition – losing fat, gaining muscle – which might not show up dramatically in a photo, but is definitely progress! Body Measurements: For quantitative measure, a tape measure can be more reliable than the scale for body composition changes. Measure your waist, hips, thighs, and arms every 4-6 weeks. Look for trends, not daily fluctuations. Consistency in measuring is key. Journaling: Seriously, write it down! How did you feel during your workout? What did you achieve? Did you try a new move? Sleeping better? A simple journal is a powerful tool to reflect on your journey and see how far you've come, beyond just what the mirror shows. If you still want to take 'before and after' photos as a personal benchmark – and many of us do! – here’s my advice for doing it mindfully: Be Consistent: Same time of day (morning is best), same lighting, same backdrop, same poses (relaxed, natural stance), and wear the same clothing (like a basic sports bra and shorts). For YOU, Not for Them: These photos are for your personal journey. Use them to celebrate your own hard work, not to compare or seek external validation. Ultimately, whether it's BBG or any other fitness program, the true transformation happens inside. It's about building healthy habits, gaining strength, boosting confidence, and feeling good in your own skin. Don't let the illusion of a perfect 'before and after' photo trick you into thinking your incredible progress isn't valid. Keep showing up for yourself!

Not all great progress ends in crazy weight loss
This got a lot of hate when I first posted it one of my groups because my progress pic doesn’t end with weight loss… now reposting a year later, it didn’t end at all. When I first posted this a year ago, I posted because I was proud of my bulk, even when I was soo scared of gaining weight.

A graph from 'Atomic Habits' titled 'The Plateau of Latent Potential' illustrates that 'Progress ≠ linear.' It contrasts expected linear results with actual progress, which often includes a 'Valley of Disappointment' before a sharp upward curve, showing that significant results can emerge after a period of seemingly slow change.
