PMS CRAVINGS: chocolate edition

I tried the viral #dubaichocolate from a Turkish bakery nearby and it was actually really goood! It consisted of this creamy pistachio filling and the chocolate was milk chocolate yet still so chocolatey. I definitely recommend trying!

📗Fun fact, pistachios are good for sleep 💤since they contain both sleep boosters ~> melatonin & magnesium. While this is the treat or junk food version of that it’s still cool to see any bit of nutritional benefit to some of the ingredients in this chocolate bar.

I regret to inform though, that I ate the whole thing LMAO. I enjoyed every bite of it, indulging from time to time is good it’s all about moderation which I went beyond but it was delicious so please try just don’t do what I did. Save some for later 😅and you’ll want some later too.

Our bodies are basically trying to self-medicate to lift our mood. Plus, many of us are often magnesium deficient, and chocolate (especially dark chocolate) is a good source of this essential mineral, which can help with muscle cramps and mood swings. So, in a way, those cravings are our body's slightly desperate, yet clever, way of telling us what it needs. During my last cycle, the craving was particularly intense, leading me to finally try that viral DUBAI CHOCOLATE everyone's been raving about. The original article mentioned how incredible the rich milk chocolate combined with the creamy pistachio filling was, and I couldn't agree more. It was truly an experience! But beyond just satisfying a craving, it made me think about how we can approach these monthly urges more mindfully. While indulging in a delicious treat like that pistachio-filled milk chocolate is heavenly, I've also found a few other strategies that help me navigate those intense PMS demands. Firstly, mindful indulgence is key. Instead of eating an entire bar in a rush (guilty as charged sometimes!), try savoring a small, high-quality piece. Really taste it, enjoy the texture, and make it a moment of self-care. Secondly, I try to incorporate healthier chocolate alternatives throughout the month. Dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher) offers more antioxidants and less sugar, and can be surprisingly satisfying. Sometimes, blending frozen banana with cocoa powder for a "nice cream" hits the spot. Or, a handful of nuts and seeds, like pistachios, can provide that magnesium boost without the sugar crash.
