What you’ll need:

• 1 lb ground beef

• 4 cloves garlic, minced

• 2 Thai bird’s eye chilies, minced (garnish)

• 1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)

• 2 tbsp olive oil

• 1 tbsp oyster sauce

• 1 tbsp soy sauce

• 1 tsp fish sauce

• 1 tsp raw honey

• 1 cup Thai basil leaves

• Fried egg, for topping (optional but traditional)

• Steamed jasmine rice, to serve

Let’s make it:

1. Prep aromatics: Mince the garlic and onion together.

2. Cook the beef:

• Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.

• Add garlic and onion. Stir-fry until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

• Add the beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through.

3. Add sauces:

• Stir in oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and honey.

• Cook another 1–2 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly and coat the meat.

4. Add basil:

• Turn off the heat and toss in the basil leaves.

• Stir until just wilted from the residual heat.

5. Serve:

• Spoon over hot jasmine rice and top with a crispy fried egg.
