Think bloating that makes you feel like you’ve swallowed a balloon, an upset stomach, and even constipation. Why? Well, cheese is often high in fat, which takes longer to digest, and for many, the lactose content can cause digestive distress like gas and cramps. Even if you're not lactose intolerant, a large quantity can overwhelm your system. I remember feeling incredibly sluggish, like my energy had completely drained, making it hard to focus on anything else. It's not just about your gut, either. All that sodium in many cheeses can lead to water retention, making you feel puffy and heavy. And let's not forget the calorie density! While cheese is packed with protein and calcium, overdoing it regularly can contribute to unwanted weight gain over time. It's easy to underestimate how quickly those delicious bites add up.
