These stuffed mushrooms are an amazing appetizer that are quick and easy to make, and they make a ton of them!
What you will need:
2-3 large packs of mushrooms
1 box of stuffing mix, I typically use the chicken stuffing but this recipe works with whatever you would like to use.
1 block of cream cheese
1-2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese; leave extra for the end of this recipe.
1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
- Pre-heat the oven to 375*
- Wash your mushrooms and remove the stems
- In a microwave safe bowl, make your stuffing mix by adding the packet with water, and fluffing up with a fork when it comes out of the microwave.
- In the bowl; combine the cream cheese, mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese and mix until you have a completely soft texture. Add whatever spices you would like.
- Spoon the mixture into the mushroom caps and place on a lightly oiled tray. Add a little bit of cheese on-top of the mushrooms and drizzle a small amount of oil on-top as well.
- Bake for about 18 minutes and take out of the oven to cool!
... Read moreI tried this stuffed mushrooms recipe recently, and it quickly became a favorite at my gatherings. What I love about this recipe is its flexibility — you can adjust the cheeses and spices to suit your taste. For instance, adding garlic powder or fresh parsley to the cheese mixture really elevates the flavor. Using chicken stuffing adds a nice savory base, but vegetarian stuffing blends work just as well if you prefer.
One tip I discovered is to gently sauté the mushroom stems along with some onions and garlic before mixing them into the cheese stuffing. It adds a deeper umami flavor that complements the juicy mushrooms perfectly. Also, make sure not to overstuff the caps to prevent any filling spilling over during baking.
Another great trick is to drizzle a little olive oil or melted butter on top before baking — this helps achieve a golden-brown crust on the cheese topping. Baking at 375°F for around 18 minutes yields perfectly cooked mushrooms — tender but not soggy, with gooey cheese on top.
These stuffed mushrooms make for excellent appetizers when hosting friends or family meals. They pair beautifully with a crisp salad or a glass of white wine. I also recommend making a double batch since they tend to disappear fast!
Overall, this recipe is quick, easy, and quite forgiving, making it ideal for cooks at any skill level. If you like experimenting, try adding chopped nuts or cooked bacon to the stuffing mix for extra texture and flavor. Enjoy making and sharing these delicious stuffed mushrooms!
