Beyond the Deep Fry: My Favorite Dumpling Cooking Methods Perfect Pan-Fried Potstickers (My Go-To for a Quick Meal!): If you're looking for that classic crispy bottom with a tender, steamed top, pan dumplings recipe is your friend! I usually heat about 1-2 tablespoons of oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, I place my frozen dumplings flat-side down, in a single layer, making sure they don't touch. Let them fry for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown and crispy. Then, here's the magic trick: pour about 1/2 cup of water (or chicken broth for extra flavor!) into the pan and quickly cover it with a lid. The steam cooks the rest of the dumpling! Cook for another 5-8 minutes, or until the water has evaporated and the dumplings are tender. Remove the lid, and let them fry for another minute or two if you want extra crispy bottoms.
