For those with ADHD or similar neurodivergent conditions, the struggle to find peace within our own thoughts can be overwhelming. One way I cope is by embracing certain routines and comforts that help quiet my mind. For me, fluffy yogurt has become a reliable comfort food that I’ve been enjoying consistently for years. This kind of hyperfixation isn’t just about eating; it’s about anchoring myself to something familiar in a world that sometimes feels chaotic. Understanding that many challenges happen primarily in our minds helps me approach mental exhaustion with more compassion, both for myself and others. It’s important to remember that everyone’s brain works differently, and we may never truly grasp what it’s like inside someone else’s head. That awareness fosters patience and reduces the need to compare our experiences. What’s also fascinating is the brain’s ability to adapt—its neural pathways can change over time. This neuroplasticity offers hope that by consciously choosing which habits we embrace, we can influence our mental well-being. For example, avoiding substances like alcohol or drugs has been a deliberate choice for me, knowing they might further disrupt my brain’s balance. Lastly, personal objects and small joys, like cherished plush toys or pets (axolotls, in my case!), add layers of comfort and stability. They serve as tangible reminders that amidst a loud brain, moments of quiet joy are always possible. Sharing these reflections helps destigmatize mental health struggles and creates space for others with loud brains to feel seen and understood.

I love lps and I struggle getting my brain to stop thinking so I use to smoke but I know it’s a quick fix. I’m also the same when it comes to food. All I know is praying helps a lot and getting rid of people that get you triggered to over think. I hope it gets better for you. 🥰
