Chef Bae’s Southern Soul Food Bowl Recipes

🧈 Buttery Southern Corn Muffins

Ingredients

• 1 cup yellow cornmeal

• 1 cup all-purpose flour

• ⅓ cup sugar

• 1 tbsp baking powder

• ½ tsp salt

• ½ tsp Chef Bae All-Purpose Seasoning

• 1 cup milk

• 2 large eggs

• ½ cup melted butter, plus more for topping

• Optional: 1 tbsp honey for extra Southern sweetness

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a muffin pan.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and Chef Bae Seasoning.

3. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, melted butter, and honey if using.

4. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.

5. Spoon batter into muffin cups, filling about ¾ full.

6. Bake 15 to 18 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

7. While hot, brush tops generously with butter so it melts right in.

Ingredients

• 16 oz elbow macaroni, cooked and drained

• 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar

• 1 cup shredded Colby Jack or mozzarella

• 2 cups whole milk

• 1 cup heavy cream

• 2 tbsp butter

• 2 tbsp flour

• 1½ tsp Chef Bae All-Purpose Seasoning

• ½ tsp black pepper

• Optional: paprika for color

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.

2. Slowly whisk in milk and cream until smooth and thickened.

3. Season with Chef Bae Seasoning and black pepper.

4. Stir in cheese until melted and creamy.

5. Fold in cooked macaroni.

6. Transfer to baking dish and bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.

Ingredients

• 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced

• ½ cup brown sugar

• ¼ cup white sugar

• ½ cup butter, melted

• 1 tsp Chef Bae All-Purpose Seasoning

• 1 tsp cinnamon

• ½ tsp nutmeg

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Layer sweet potatoes in a baking dish.

3. In a bowl, mix sugars, butter, Chef Bae Seasoning, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.

4. Pour mixture over potatoes and toss gently.

5. Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes.

6. Uncover and bake another 15 to 20 minutes until syrupy and glossy.

Ingredients

• 1 small head green cabbage, chopped

• 1 bunch collard greens, chopped

• 1½ tsp Chef Bae All-Purpose Seasoning

• ½ tsp black pepper

• ½ tsp sugar

• 2 tbsp butter

• 1½ cups chicken broth

• Optional: smoked turkey or ham hock

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a pot over medium heat. Add smoked meat if using and let it render.

2. Add cabbage and collards, stirring until slightly wilted.

3. Season with Chef Bae Seasoning, black pepper, and sugar.

4. Pour in broth, cover, and simmer on low 45 to 60 minutes until tender and silky.

5. Taste and adjust seasoning. Greens should be glossy and flavorful.

🥩 Slow-Cooked Pot Roast with Gravy

Ingredients

• 3 lb chuck roast

• 2 tsp Chef Bae All-Purpose Seasoning

• 1 tsp black pepper

• 1 tsp garlic powder

• 1 tsp onion powder

• 2 tbsp oil

• 1 onion, sliced

• 3 carrots, chopped

• 3 cloves garlic, minced

• 2 cups beef broth

• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

• Optional: fresh thyme or bay leaf

Instructions

1. Pat roast dry and season generously with Chef Bae Seasoning, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

2. Heat oil in a heavy pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear roast on all sides until deeply browned.

3. Remove roast and sauté onions and carrots until softened. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

4. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire, scraping up browned bits.

5. Return roast to pot, cover, and cook low and slow at 300°F for 3½ to 4 hours, or until fork-tender.

6. Shred meat in the gravy and let it soak up all that flavor.
