ADHD and still have so much to pack to move

7/23 Edited to

... Read morePacking up your life when you have ADHD can feel overwhelming, and I completely understand the frozen feeling that happens when faced with a mountain of tasks. When I was preparing to move recently, I found breaking down large packing projects into smaller, manageable chunks to be a lifesaver. Instead of trying to tackle everything in one go, I’d set timers for short packing sessions — even just 15 to 20 minutes — and then take a break. This prevented me from feeling stuck and helped maintain focus. Another helpful tip was creating a prioritized packing list organized by urgency and importance. This way, I knew what absolutely had to be packed first versus what could wait, easing the pressure. Using clear labeling for boxes also made a big difference later on, reducing the chaos because I could quickly find what I needed without digging through every container. Additionally, asking for support from friends or family can provide encouragement and extra hands to speed up the process. Finally, acknowledging that it’s okay not to be perfect during a hectic move is crucial. ADHD brains thrive on structure but also need compassion during big changes. Embracing flexibility while using these small routines made my moving experience smoother and more manageable. For anyone facing a similar challenge, remember you’re not alone, and finding strategies tailored to your unique way of thinking can transform how you approach packing and moving.

Pack one area at a time. I’m in the process of packing and moving myself. And I also have adhd. I pack two big packing bags every morning. So far I’ve packed two boxes and 5 big packing bags. Just that little bit puts me at ease. Example. Pack everything on your desk first. The next day take apart your cart & so forth. Good luck
