A Course In Miracles Lesson 71

Only Source’s plan for salvation will work.

🌿 This lesson asks me to look honestly at the plan I have been following since the day I came home:

Get the job.

Find housing.

Rebuild the reputation.

Make everyone see that I have changed.

None of these are wrong.

But none can bring the wholeness I seek.

ACIM tells me this is the ego’s plan:

Keep me searching for peace exactly where it cannot be found.

It “channelizes” my effort into a search that must fail because it directs me away from my own mind.

During re-entry, it is easy to believe that if a situation were different, I would finally be at peace.

But this way of thinking keeps me reaching outward for what can only be recognized within.

Source’s plan is different.

It is the only plan that must succeed because its outcome is certain.

Today I am willing to release my limited plans.

I do not have to abandon practical steps.

I simply let go of the belief that my own strategies will save me.

Salvation is not something I achieve; it is something I allow to guide me.

So I ask Source:

What would You have me do?

Where would You have me go?

What would You have me say, and to whom?

I am willing to listen.

Only Source’s plan for salvation will work.

I am no longer seeking peace in shifting forms.

I choose the plan that cannot fail.

I am MovingStill.

I used to believe that achieving peace depended on changing external circumstances—like securing a job, rebuilding my reputation, or improving my surroundings. While these are important practical goals, I realized they alone could not bring the wholeness or inner peace I sought. The lesson highlights how the ego’s plan intentionally misdirects us, keeping our efforts focused on external change rather than inner transformation. This resonates with me deeply during times of transition, such as re-entry into daily life after intense spiritual work or life changes. It’s tempting to think that altering a situation will finally bring peace, yet peace cannot be found outside ourselves. Embracing Source’s plan means releasing attachment to these ego-driven strategies. It does not ask us to neglect practical steps, but to let go of the belief that our own efforts alone can save us. Salvation, as this lesson teaches, is a state we allow by seeking guidance from a higher source rather than solely trusting our limited minds. I have found that regularly asking questions like "What would You have me do? Where would You have me go? What would You have me say, and to whom?" creates a space of openness and willingness to listen. This practice shifts my focus from anxious striving to calm receptivity. Inspired by the lesson’s affirmation that only God’s plan must succeed, my motivation transforms from fear of failure to confidence in divine guidance. Incorporating this insight into daily life has brought subtle but profound changes. I no longer chase fleeting forms of peace outside myself but allow healing to come through surrender and trust. Holding grievances, which the lesson identifies as opposing God’s plan, gradually loses its grip as I practice forgiveness and choose Source’s way. If you find yourself caught in the cycle of seeking peace externally, consider reflecting on this lesson. Ask yourself honestly about the plans you are following and be open to releasing the ones that limit you. In doing so, you invite a peace that is certain and unshakable—the peace that only Source’s plan for salvation can provide.
