A Course In Miracles Lesson 96
I notice how often I experience myself as divided — and how much energy I spend trying to hold the pieces together.
Lesson 96
Salvation comes from my one Self.
🌿 Pulled between opposing motives, values, reactions — this tension has seemed like an unavoidable feature of being human.
But ACIM suggests something I have been slow to accept: conflict arises from a mistaken identity.
If I believe I am both spirit and something opposed to spirit, I will try endlessly to reconcile what cannot be reconciled.
Much of my effort has gone into managing contradictions that only exist because of how I define myself.
What if the war I keep fighting is not between parts of me, but between what is real and what I made up?
This appears as trying to balance who I was, who others expect me to be, and who I think I must become.
Yet the Course frames the problem differently.
It is not that I must harmonize competing selves.
It is that the self I made is not the Self that is real.
Salvation, then, is not a solution found externally.
It is a recognition arising from within the mind that remembers its source.
When I stop trying to resolve illusions on their own terms, the sense of struggle begins to diminish.
I take comfort in knowing that peace is not found in managing inner conflict, but in questioning whether the conflict was ever necessary.
Salvation comes from my one Self.
