Little things I love getting as an autistic ADHDer

I recently saw the term "penguin pebbling" in relation to autism... Have you heard of this?

It's when autistic people bring you little trinkets as a token of their love and affection, or as a way to build connection. I think this is adorable, and I definitely do this... But I also love to be on the receiving end!

What makes you feel loved and appreciated? Do you have one of the five traditional love languages?

... Read moreIn the neurodivergent community, expressing love and appreciation can often take unique forms. 'Penguin pebbling' is a heartwarming example where small, thoughtful gifts symbolize connection. These trinkets can be anything from rocks found at the beach to quirky toys like dinosaur figurines. Each gift carries meaning, fostering bonds and shared understanding. Many autistic individuals relate to the idea that food is a love language—simple, comforting meals can portray affection better than elaborate feasts. It's vital to recognize the different ways people express love, especially within the autistic community. Treasure your unique connection with loved ones and learn about their love languages—be it through gifts, food, or simple acts of kindness. Engaging in conversations about what makes you feel loved can deepen relationships, resulting in richer, more meaningful interactions.
