A Course In Miracles Lesson 152

I notice how quickly I experience my reactions as if they were caused entirely by the world around me.

Lesson 152

The power of decision is my own.

🌿 Something feels painful,

confusing,

or heavy,

and my attention immediately moves outward.

The situation.

The person.

The condition that seems responsible for how I feel.

That feels natural.

Like experience is simply happening to me

and I am responding afterward.

But the lesson points somewhere deeper.

Not to behavior first,

but to decision.

To the meaning I accepted.

The interpretation I chose.

The position I took before I even realized I had taken one.

That’s difficult to see

because the mind experiences its interpretations as reactions to reality.

But the Course reverses that structure.

What I experience is inseparable from the framework I’m seeing through.

And that framework is not imposed on me.

The power of decision is my own.

Not in the sense of controlling the world.

But in choosing what I accept as true.

That changes responsibility completely.

Not into blame.

Not into self-condemnation.

But into recognition.

If perception is being maintained through decision,

then it can also be released through decision.

The lesson calls this humility.

Not pretending to be powerless.

But no longer pretending I am a victim of what I made meaningful.

That’s a very different kind of honesty.

Today I’m paying attention to where I automatically treat my experience as something caused from outside me.

Where I overlook the interpretations and assumptions underneath my reactions.

Not forcing myself to feel differently.

But recognizing that meaning is not being imposed on me without my participation.

The power of decision is my own.

I am MovingStill.

Often, I found myself attributing my feelings to external circumstances—blaming situations or other people for my pain or confusion. However, this lesson reminds us that before any reaction arises, there is a decision—a choice about what meaning to accept from our experiences. In my daily life, especially during moments of stress or discomfort, I now try to pause and recognize the interpretations my mind has already formed. Instead of immediately reacting to perceived external causes, I question what assumptions and judgments I accepted that contribute to my emotional state. This conscious awareness has helped me lessen feelings of victimhood and shift toward a mindset of empowerment. One practical approach I've embraced is a short daily reflection or meditation focused on humility—not as weakness but as honest acknowledgment that while I cannot control every external event, I do hold the power to decide my response and beliefs. This shift transforms responsibility from blame into recognition. It’s not about self-condemnation but understanding that the frame through which I view the world is something I create and can change. The OCR text highlights that no suffering or loss occurs without our decision allowing it, which at first seemed extreme. Yet, embracing this perspective offers liberation—if we hold the power to accept or reject meaning, then healing becomes accessible through conscious choice. It’s a call to abandon ego-driven arrogance and to recognize our role as co-creators in our reality. Overall, Lesson 152 inspires me to cultivate patience and openness, inviting the 'Self' within to reveal deeper truths throughout the day. By repeatedly affirming "The power of decision is my own," I cultivate peace and begin to witness shifts in how I experience challenges. The lesson encourages ongoing practice, not as a guarantee of perfection but as a pathway to greater inner freedom and alignment with love and truth. If you’re exploring A Course in Miracles, I recommend integrating this lesson through mindful journaling, meditation, or gentle inquiry into your reactions. Noticing when you automatically assign causality externally can be the first step toward reclaiming your personal power and experiencing greater peace in everyday life.
