A Course In Miracles Lesson 183
I notice how easily I define myself by the names I've collected throughout my life.
Lesson 183
I call upon God's Name and on my own.
🌿 Every name tells a story.
Worker.
Parent.
Friend.
Failure.
Success.
Some were given to me.
Others I accepted for myself.
Over time, it's easy to believe those names describe who I truly am.
Today's lesson invites me beneath every label I've ever carried.
It reminds me that my deepest identity was never created by the world.
It was given by God.
The names I've gathered may describe experiences.
They do not define my being.
The more tightly I hold those temporary identities, the easier it becomes to forget the one Identity that has never changed.
Calling upon God's Name is not reaching toward Someone far away.
It is remembering the Source from which my own identity comes.
That remembrance quietly puts every other label into its proper place.
Useful at times.
But never ultimate.
Today I'm paying attention to the names I unconsciously answer to.
The labels that shape how I see myself or others.
Not rejecting my life experiences.
But becoming more willing to remember the Identity that existed before every other name.
