A Course In Miracles Lesson 157
I notice how unfamiliar real stillness can feel when I stop filling my mind with noise, pressure, and distraction.
Lesson 157
Into His Presence would I enter now.
🌿 There are moments where everything briefly quiets.
Not because the world changes,
but because my mind stops gripping it so tightly.
And when that happens,
something different becomes noticeable.
A softness.
A stillness.
A sense of presence that does not feel manufactured by thought.
The strange part is how unfamiliar that can feel at first.
The mind is so used to movement.
Problem-solving.
Defending.
Rehearsing identity through constant thinking.
So when stillness appears,
there can almost be a temptation to interrupt it.
To return to mental activity because it feels more familiar than peace.
The lesson marks this as a turning point.
Not because I suddenly become spiritually perfected,
but because I begin recognizing there is something beyond the constant noise of perception.
Something not created by fear.
Not dependent on control.
Not built from effort.
The Course describes this as entering His Presence.
Not physically.
Not dramatically.
But through a willingness to stop valuing separation long enough to experience something deeper than it.
And once even a glimpse of that peace is felt,
it changes the way everything else is experienced afterward.
The world may still appear the same,
but it no longer feels entirely convincing.
Because part of the mind now remembers there is something beyond it.
That is why the lesson speaks about joy differently here.
Not excitement.
Not temporary relief.
A quieter certainty underneath experience itself.
The kind that does not need constant reinforcement to remain true.
Today I’m paying attention to where I interrupt peace by returning to unnecessary mental noise.
Where stillness feels unfamiliar enough that I move away from it automatically.
Not forcing spiritual experience.
But becoming more willing to remain present when peace begins to appear.
Into His Presence would I enter now.
I am MovingStill.
