A Course In Miracles Lesson 161
I notice how quickly I turn people into symbols of my fear instead of reflections of what we share.
Lesson 161
Give me your blessing, holy Son of God.
🌿 When someone frustrates me, disappoints me, or threatens something I value, my attention narrows.
I stop seeing the whole person.
I see the behavior.
The disagreement.
The perceived offense.
The mind becomes very specific.
It focuses on what is wrong.
What is different.
What needs to be defended against.
And once that happens, separation feels justified.
The lesson exposes the cost of that process.
What I attack in another, I make real in myself.
What I fear in another, I strengthen within my own perception.
The Course says that bodies become symbols for fear.
Not because people are fearful.
But because the mind projects its own fear outward and then reacts to what it projected.
That cycle can feel convincing.
Yet it rests on a mistaken identity.
The lesson asks me to look beyond appearances and remember something deeper.
Not who I think someone is.
Not who they seem to be in a particular moment.
But what remains unchanged beneath every story and every form.
The holy Son of God.
That phrase can sound abstract until it becomes practical.
Because it changes how I meet people.
Instead of asking,
"What threat does this person represent?"
I begin asking,
"What truth am I overlooking?"
The lesson is not asking me to deny behavior.
It is asking me not to confuse behavior with identity.
There is a difference.
And that difference is where forgiveness becomes possible.
When I stop seeing someone as the source of my fear, I create space for a different perception.
One that heals instead of divides.
Today I'm paying attention to where I reduce people to my judgments, frustrations, or fears about them.
Where I allow appearances to replace vision.
Not forcing myself to like everyone.
But becoming more willing to see beyond the role I have assigned them.
Give me your blessing, holy Son of God.
I am MovingStill.
