A Course In Miracles Lesson 65

My only function is the one Source gave me.

🌿 This lesson is a massive relief for anyone navigating the transition back into society.

It tells me I don’t have to be everything to everyone.

In re-entry, I am constantly bombarded with roles I feel forced to play—the perfect employee, the compliant parolee, the man trying to “make up” for the past. Trying to juggle all these versions of myself is exhausting.

ACIM reminds me that I have only one function, and it is the one Source gave me.

Accepting this function means I can finally stop performing.

I used to believe I had to manage every detail of my reputation and future to stay safe.

That kind of self-management feels responsible, but it quietly breeds anxiety.

The Course teaches that all these substitute goals interfere with peace.

When I stop trying to prove my worth through a hundred different tasks, I rediscover a stability that doesn’t depend on how well I navigate the system.

It depends on the purpose that was never taken from me.

The MovingStill Path is about clearing mental clutter.

The pressure to be “more” or “better” by the world’s standards is just interference.

It distracts me from the quiet strength that already exists.

When I notice myself chasing approval or scrambling to secure an image, I can pause and say,

“This goal is not my function.”

In that pause, something softens.

I don’t have to earn my purpose.

I only have to accept it.

I am not here to manage perception or survive a checklist.

I am here to fulfill the one function that brings real happiness.

When I focus on that, my world simplifies.

I stop reacting from pressure and start responding from peace.

I am MovingStill

I found that Lesson 65 of A Course In Miracles resonates deeply because it centers on the idea that we each have one true function—given by a higher Source—that transcends all imposed roles and pressures. In personal experience, trying to juggle identities like the "perfect employee" or "making up for the past" only leads to anxiety and distraction. This lesson highlights the mental clutter created by these substitute goals and how they interfere with genuine peace of mind. A powerful practice is to pause when you find yourself chasing approval or trying to prove your worth, and internally affirm, "This goal is not my function." This simple act softens the pressure and allows space to reconnect with the true purpose you were given. The lesson involves sustained daily practice periods where you focus on your only function, letting go of self-invented goals that block salvation and peace. Setting aside time to consciously repeat this idea helps the mind train to consistently align with this truth. This discipline encourages a transformation from reactive behavior rooted in fear or approval-seeking to a peaceful response in alignment with your authentic purpose. What I appreciate most is the reminder that our value does not depend on managing perceptions or completing checklists but on accepting and fulfilling our unique, divinely assigned function. Embracing this truth leads to a simplified, more joyful life where external pressures lose their grip, and inner stability takes root. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by societal expectations or roles that feel imposed, Lesson 65 offers a pathway to mental clarity and healing. Accepting your one true function is a profound step toward spiritual freedom and genuine happiness. This teaching supports anyone facing challenging transitions, helping us all return to a place of peace and authentic purpose.
