A Course In Miracles Lesson 158
I notice how quickly I reduce people to the roles they seem to play in my life.
Lesson 158
Today I learn to give as I receive.
🌿 When I meet someone, my mind usually sees the surface first.
Their personality.
Their behavior.
Their history.
The way they affect me.
Without realizing it, I begin organizing them into categories.
Helpful.
Difficult.
Trustworthy.
Unsafe.
The labels arrive so quickly they feel like perception itself.
But the lesson asks me to look deeper.
Not at the story.
Not at the role.
Not at the body.
At what remains underneath all of it.
The Course says that what I truly receive from God cannot be taught because it has never been lost.
But there is something that can be shared.
Vision.
A different way of seeing.
Not seeing someone as a collection of mistakes, accomplishments, opinions, or appearances.
Seeing the light that remains unchanged beneath them.
That is what Christ's vision offers.
And that is what today's lesson asks me to give.
Not advice.
Not correction.
Not approval.
A willingness to look past the surface and recognize something deeper.
This is harder than it sounds.
Because the mind is attached to appearances.
It wants evidence.
It wants confirmation.
It wants reasons why one person deserves understanding and another does not.
But Christ's vision makes no such distinctions.
It does not see one person as more worthy of love than another.
It sees what is true in everyone equally.
The lesson also turns that vision back toward me.
Because the way I see others becomes the way I experience myself.
If I continually focus on guilt, separation, and error in others, I strengthen those same ideas within my own mind.
If I learn to recognize innocence, holiness, and shared identity, I receive that recognition as well.
That is how giving becomes receiving.
Not later.
Immediately.
Today I'm paying attention to how quickly I define people by appearances, behavior, or history.
Where I allow labels to replace vision.
Not forcing myself to feel differently.
But becoming more willing to look beyond the surface and remember what is still true underneath it.
Today I learn to give as I receive.
I am MovingStill.
