A Course In Miracles Lesson 162
I notice how easily I build an identity from everything that changes.
Lesson 162
I am as God created me.
🌿 Most of what I think about myself comes from experience.
What I've done.
What I've survived.
What I've achieved.
What I've failed at.
Over time, those experiences get organized into a story.
And that story begins to feel like me.
Some parts of it I protect.
Some parts I try to overcome.
But almost all of it is built from things that change.
The lesson brings me back to something much simpler.
Before every role.
Before every success or mistake.
Before every label I have accepted or rejected.
What am I?
The Course gives an answer that doesn't depend on circumstances.
I am as God created me.
Not as the world defined me.
Not as fear interpreted me.
Not as my past explained me.
As God created me.
The power of the lesson is its simplicity.
It doesn't ask me to improve myself.
It doesn't ask me to construct a better identity.
It asks me to remember what was never altered in the first place.
That can feel difficult because the mind is accustomed to measuring itself through change.
Progress.
Failure.
Growth.
Loss.
Yet beneath all of those experiences remains something untouched by them.
The lesson points there.
Not to an ideal version of myself.
To what is already true.
The more I sit with that possibility, the more the pressure begins to soften.
I don't have to earn what I already am.
I don't have to defend what cannot be threatened.
I don't have to become worthy of what was given from the beginning.
Today I'm paying attention to where I define myself through temporary experiences, roles, and conditions.
Where I forget the difference between what has happened to me and what I am.
Not forcing belief.
But becoming more willing to remember what has never changed.
I am as God created me.
I am MovingStill.
